I don’t know about you, but for me, packing and unpacking my luggages- not for me !

So, here are some suggestions for visits from Haras d’Havetot. There are also plenty of walking, horse riding and cycling opportunities, so don’t hesitate to ask us for our guides !

Don’t forget to take advantage of all the activities at the Havetot stud farm: hot tub, bowl/petanque court, lazing around in the garden or visiting the racehorse breeding stud farm.

DAY 1

MONT-SAINT-MICHEL / COPPER CITY

In order to avoid the crowds at Mont-Saint-Michel, we advise you to start your day with a stop in the copper city of Villedieu les Poêles. Discover through a fascinating visit the activity of the bell founder of Notre Dame de Paris.

Before arriving at Mont-Saint-Michel car park, why not stop on the riverbank and enjoy your picnic, while admiring the magnificent landscapes of Mont-Saint Michel and its bay. Depending on your courage and desire, you can reach Mont-Saint-Michel on horseback, on foot or by bus. Doing it on foot allows you to take different paths with contrasting landscapes.

DAY 2

WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR CASTLE / SWISS NORMANDY

Take the tablet that will be given to you at the entrance of the site and let's go back in time : the different rooms of the castle come to life, the characters such as William the Conqueror, Richard the Lionheart... tell you their stories. A historical experience for the whole family

After this cultural moment, let's stretch our legs by joining the Swiss Normandy where young and old can have fun with multiple activities such as: canoeing, kayaking, paddle, cycling....

Day 3

LIVE OR RELIVE THE NORMANDY LANDINGS

27 military cemeteries in Normandy, the most famous of which is the American cemetery at Colleville sur mer overlooking Omaha beach. This solemn place with 9,388 white tombstones is maintained by fifteen or so gardeners to keep it beautiful.

Head for the Pointe du Hoc where you can see the German casemates and also admire the magnificent view from the top of the cliffs.

For young and old alike who don't like reading signs in museums - the D-Day Experience is for you. Relive D-Day in an authentic vintage C-47, transformed into a flight simulator, or use the 3D cinema to experience the events leading up to D-Day. You will also be able to see some incredibly well reconstructed war scenes.

Finish your day with a stop at the German cemetery at La Cambe, a striking contrast to the American cemetery, and an emotional one at that.

DAY 4

CAEN AND CABOURG

The Men's Abbey and the Ladies' Abbey were founded by William the Conqueror. Preserved from the bombardments of the Second World War, the former became the city hall of Caen. You can admire their architecture and interior decorations. Then wander through the narrow streets of Caen, and explore the Vaugueux district.

Let's take a breath of fresh air in Cabourg. A digestive stroll along Marcel Proust's famous promenade or lazing on the warm Normandy sand ?

For the more curious, why not take a tour of the villas dating from the good old days.

As the end of the day approaches, the Cabourg racecourse offers night-time horse racing during the summer. Perhaps you will see the horses of our stable competing ?

DAY 5

SOULEUVRE VIADUCT / JURQUES ZOO

Go and admire 700 animals, from around fifty different species, such as the white lions or the dwarf mongoose at Jurques Zoo. You can take part in the feeding of some of the animals, to the delight of young and old alike.

If you are a thrill-seeker, the Souleuvre viaduct built by Gustave Eiffel is the place for you: bungee jumping, giant tyrolean traverse, walking on a glass balcony 60 metres high, these are the activities you can discover.

For those who are a bit chilly, at the foot of the viaduct, you can go tobogganing on rails, go on a zip line circuit, climb a net or go barefoot.

Or you can simply lie down on the grass and admire the landscape. If you are looking for silence, people shout a lot because emotions are high 😊

DAY 6

D-DAY BEACHES / BAYEUX

A long morning walk on the long beach of Omaha Beach, a great start to the day, don't you think ?

Then discover Port en Bessin, its narrow streets with its typical fishermen's houses or wait on the fish market until the sailors come back from fishing, the quays come alive - a real live show.

A bit of culture : head for Arromanches les bains, the 360° cinema: a unique cinema dedicated to the Battle of Normandy. You can also see the two artificial harbours installed by the Allies during the Second World War.

Let's finish the day with a trip to Bayeux, a beautiful medieval city where we recommend you to stroll through its streets, it will be the best discovery. You can't miss the cathedral, which is a must-see in the city. At certain times of the year and at nightfall, the main façade of the building comes alive with a whirlwind of lights, images and sound.

DAY 7

THE ROAD OF TRADITIONS

Yummy day 😊 The Bocage Normand reveals itself through a gourmet walk on the road of traditions. You will meet producers and craftsmen, who will show you their know-how through fascinating visits. You will be able, if you wish, to buy their products for your personal consumption or perhaps a souvenir gift of Normandy to bring back to your loved ones.
